About Haji Ali Dargah

Haji Ali Dargah is one of Mumbai's most recognizable landmarks, located on an islet 500 meters from the coast in Worli Bay. The Indo-Islamic architecture and unique location make it a popular pilgrimage site for people of all faiths. The dargah contains the tomb of Sayyed Peer Haji Ali Shah Bukhari.

History & Significance

Built in 1431 in memory of wealthy Muslim merchant Sayyed Peer Haji Ali Shah Bukhari who gave up all worldly possessions before making pilgrimage to Mecca. According to legend, he died during his journey and his casket floated back to rest at this spot.
