History

Built in 1884 by Jacob Elias Sassoon of the prominent Baghdadi Jewish Sassoon family, the synagogue served Mumbai's once-thriving Baghdadi Jewish community. It was restored in 2019 to its original grandeur with the support of the Indian government.
