Officially called Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, this sprawling 520-acre complex in Goregaon East is the epicenter of India's Hindi film industry. Multiple permanent sets recreate villages, courtrooms, train stations, and palaces where hundreds of productions shoot simultaneously. Guided bus tours take visitors past active shooting locations where you might spot film crews and occasionally celebrities at work. The complex also houses gardens, an artificial lake, and studio floors used for popular television serials. Originally established by the Maharashtra government to consolidate film production, the studio has become the beating heart of Bollywood's massive entertainment output.
