Sanjay Gandhi National Park

About

Large national park with wildlife, ancient caves, and nature trails. Spanning 104 square kilometers in the heart of Mumbai's northern suburbs, this is one of the most visited national parks in the world, attracting over 2 million visitors annually. The park harbors a remarkable population of around 40 leopards alongside deer, monkeys, crocodiles, and over 270 species of birds. Ancient Kanheri Caves with 109 rock-cut Buddhist caves dating back 2,000 years lie within the park. Activities include a lion and tiger safari, boating on the lake, nature trails, and a toy train ride. The park entrance at Borivali is easily accessible by local train, making it a convenient urban wilderness escape.
