Chowpatty Beach Mumbai

About
Famous beach known for street food and Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Officially named Girgaon Chowpatty, this beach sits at the northern end of Marine Drive and has been a beloved gathering spot for Mumbaikars for generations. The sandy stretch is lined with vendors selling bhel puri, pav bhaji, kulfi, and gola, creating an open-air food court every evening. During Ganesh Chaturthi, Chowpatty transforms into the city's most important visarjan site, where thousands of devotees immerse Ganesh idols into the sea. The beach is not suitable for swimming due to water quality and currents. At night, visitors enjoy sweeping views of the illuminated Marine Drive arc. Sand sculpture festivals and morning yoga groups add to the cultural vibrancy of this iconic shoreline.
