Situated in the Malabar Hill locality, Banganga Tank is an old water tank from 1127 AD. The tank is surrounded by temples and traditional Hindu houses and is of huge religious importance, giving one an insight into Mumbai's historical and cultural past. The tank lies within the Walkeshwar Temple complex and is considered sacred by Hindus, who believe that the tank was formed when Lord Rama shot an arrow into the ground to fetch water.
