Haji Ali Dargah Mumbai
About
Beautiful mosque on an island accessible during low tide. This Indo-Islamic marvel sits on a tiny islet 500 meters off the coast of Worli, connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway that submerges during high tide. Built in 1431, the white marble dargah houses the tomb of wealthy merchant Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari who gave up his possessions for a pilgrimage to Mecca. The structure features stunning mirror work and marble pillars. Qawwali singers perform on Thursday evenings. The dargah welcomes people of all faiths and the approach walkway offers panoramic views of the Mumbai skyline and the Arabian Sea.
