Mount Mary Church

About

Historic Catholic church on hilltop with annual Bandra Fair. Officially the Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount, this 17th-century church was originally built by Portuguese Jesuits atop a hill overlooking the Arabian Sea. Destroyed and rebuilt multiple times, the current Gothic structure dates to 1904. The church houses a revered statue of the Virgin Mary, believed to have miraculous powers. Each September, the week-long Bandra Fair (also called Mount Mary Fair) draws over a million visitors with food stalls, rides, and cultural performances. The hilltop location offers sweeping views of Bandra's coastline and the surrounding neighborhood.
